non-gut hurdy gurdy strings

A couple of weeks ago I was at a weekend HG workshop near Frankfurt. One of the tutors had new (chanterelle) strings on his hurdy gurdy and they sounded fantastic so I ordered one high g and one low g for my G/C HG. I am very pleased with the sound and response of the strings.

They are Thomastik "Vision" strings (for 4/4 violin), metal wound with a nylon (?) - definitely non-gut - core and are inexpensive as well.

For the high g chanterelle: Thomastik "vision" vi02st, 4/4 violin, a (G.634114) = EUR 6.60 incl. VAT

The strings are suitable for HGs with a sounding length of up to 350mm (it's a tight fit but just works).
